As a fan of BUCKAROO BANZAI since the film's initial release (I still own a TEAM BANZAI headband), I grabbed your new BB series practically the minute I heard about it. While I am stoked after reading the preview and issues #1-2 of the new series, I do have some rather obvious questions (which I am hoping upcoming issues will answer):

- How in hell (or out of it) can Lord John Whorfin AKA Dr. Emilio Lizardo have survived his apparent death in the film? As issue #1 notes, Buckaroo blew him out of the New Jersey sky along with his Lectroid spaceship. The issue also notes that the government took all the dead Lectroids to Area 51; are we to assume that Whorfin/Lizardo was somehow reassembled/resurrected there?

- What the hell has happened to Penny Priddy, the woman who ended the film being brought back to life (or from the brink of death) by Buckaroo's kiss? Neither of the first two issues makes any mention of her, not even a passing reference. Surely her absence deserves some explanation? (And not just because I've been a huge Ellen Barkin fan since I first saw her in the film.)

Aside from these two glaring omissions, I am finding that your new series seriously rocks! It feels like the sequel we were promised at the film's end got made after all. I'm willing to stay for the whole ride...but you better bring back Penny PDQ! thumbs up:grin:

We might find out as we go. Or not....life is like that. Maybe he had more than one escape plan off the ship?

Looks like you haven't been hitting http://www.banzai-institute.com, particularly the interview with Buckaroo at: http://www.banzai-institute.com/0202bbiv.html. I'm pretty sure she's talked about on the DVD, too. Guess I need to watch it again to be real sure.  cool

Remember...the thing about Buckaroo Banzai is it's a world constantly in motion. Just like the docu-drama took a slice of Team Banzai's activities and presented it to us and expected us to catch up as it went, so does the comic.

Jump in, buckle up, and hold on!!

Actually, the very beginning of the first issue does address Penny's fate pretty clearly, though not with specifics. During the dream sequence that leads off the story, Buckaroo and Penny are all set to get hitched when things go terribly wrong. Read the first five pages again. That's Penny on the table flat-lining.
