Lets look at it, he had to put up with House of M, in which he regained and then re-lost Gwen, then there was The Other which, really, was just stupid, then he gets shoved into Civil War and unmasked (although I DO think that was a very brave, interesting move on Marvel's part and Stan Lee himself has said it's a cool idea) and then, next year, will have this next one and, if Joe Q. has his way it looks like MJ is going to snuff it.
One other thing that he's been put through is him finding out that Gwen has 2 fully grown kids!! The timing of CIVIL WAR was awful, straight after "the Other". I was reading an interesting article about the "Back in Black" thing [I think Newsarama interviewed the AMS editor or something] and he was saying that Spidey going back to his black costume symbolises his life after Civil War. Woah I'm impressed, the effects of the war are going to last for at least an arc
Lol. Apparently he'll be in black for a while....so maybe 2 arcs. I think it's funny they have him in black, why not use the classic costume and tell us how he feels through clever writing. No, to much effort.
Marvel team up was the only Spdey title I could stand, so of course Marvel canceled it.
The Gwen 'Oh, by the way I slept with your arch-foe and now have two clone children' story completly lost me.
It just feels like Marvel is staggering from one big event to another and all the regular titles are trying to juggle that and their regular on going stories.
All I'm reading from them is minis. With MTU and Thing getting the ax, I collect no ongoings from marvel.
There is too much serious, gritty and 'realisism' in their stuff and not much in the way of fun.
I had a point when I started writing this post, but I notice that I'm starting to ramble.
On a side note, if you can spare the cash, pick up Stan Lee Meets Doctor Strange (and the rest of the Stan Lee Meets... books while you're at it). It has a story written by Bendis that pokes fun at all the events and in particularthe Gwen/Osborn thing. It's very, very funny!

Sounds awesome Dougy [come on Bendis and making fun of things?]
How many of those "Stan Lee meets..." books are there?
There are currently three "Stan Lee Meets..." books out, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange and Thing. Stan Lee Meets Doctor Doom will be out soon and if memory serves Stan Lee Meets Silver Surfer after that.
picked up FF# 542, figuring McDuffie could make them readable again.
So, it's Issac Assimov's fault that Reed and Tony are acting lik completly out of character knuckleheads!?
Talk about going out on a twig!
The rest of the issue was pretty good.
So what did folks think of CW #6? Although #5 wasn't as good as the previous issues #6 really picked things back up. I love seeing Frank Castle more involved in there and the confrontation between him and cap was brilliant. I'm really looking forward to 7 and now that Cap has broken everyone out of the 42 Prison it’s going to be one hell of a showdown.
A question; at the start of the book where Maria Hill and Hank Pym are discussing the new heroes, who do you think these heroes are? Could they be clones like Thor, ordinary people given powers or heroes who have registered and we haven't heard of yet? Personally I'm going for option 2, but option 1 sounds a lot more interesting...
Soooo, what are people's final thoughts on Civil War??
My full review of the war will be appearing on the CC Blog within the next couple of days

The only good thing I can say about Civil War is it means all that money I used to spend on marvel titles I can now use to pick up more Moonstone stuff.
