Alrighty, so is anyone else the brilliant, great, awesome, crossover event of the Millenium? Am loving the suspense in this. Spidey unmasking blew me away and although I hated it at first, it's all good now:mrgreen:
Oh and also what TIE INS are you reading??
I stopped getting suckered into these crossovers a long time ago.
If it's not in a title I already get, I don't read it.
Loved the times on "Who Wants To Be A Superhero?" when Stan kept hammering home the fact that superheroes don't give up their identities. I'm with ya, Stan!!
I passed on civil war and have been reading Annihilation instead.
Big and cosmic will always get chosen over angsty and political.
I finally read a copy of #4 over the weekend. Disapointing to say the least. Even Millenium had better plotting than this.

I actually quite liked #4.
SPOILERS FOR CIVIL WAR #4, FRONTLINES #6, ASM #535
DON"T READ AHEAD IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THOSE ISSUES!
I reckon #4 was probably one of the best so far in the series. Sue Storm taking a stand like that was so cool to see!!
I can't wait to see the FF split up:sly02: I've never liked them. Pity that we have to wait 2 months before we see the new THUNDERBOLTS kick Spidey's ass, it's going to be interesting to see the battle between Spidey and Iron Man.
Frontlines is really beginning to bore me to death though! I reckon Reed Richards has something to do with the assasination attempt on Speedball, possibly to try and get his powers working again?
Okay, the FF spliting up remark is enough to get you dropped from my christmas card list.
I try and be fair and every now and then flip through and issue, but the characterzation is so out of whack, I feel like I'm reading a 'What if?' mini.
The Reed/ Sue debate was where I knew Marvel completly lost me. Painful.
On the bright side, I now have more money to spend on Essential TPBs!
Defenders vol. 2 is coming out soon!

Guess we like/dislike different characters?
I just find the FF stories boring, and honestly, the only character I like is the Human Torch [I mean come on the guy turns on fire and flies]. Them splitting is going to be cool to see [in my eyes] as it makes way for lots of new fresh story ideas!
I wouldn't mind the Sue/ Reed break up ( though it would be nice to see at least one happily married couple in comics) or the FF break up if everybody wasn't written so out of character.
Reed selling out his friends and using the 50's Red hunts as his defense?
If this was an Ultimate story, I could cut it some slack, but this whole mini is changing characters to fit the story, when it should be the other way around.
Beside, how can you not love the Thing?
A cigar smoking rock man that beats up monsters while waering a speedo. What's not to love?

What's not to love? Hmm well I'm not to keen on the speedo thing in general LOL.
Yeah, I agree that almost every body is out of character. But then again this is a WAR and maybe people, I dunno, change during war? I honestly have no idea what I'm talking about when I say that, but maybe?
Tony Stark is the real evil guy in all this. Cloning? No trial? Hiring Super Villiains to do the dirty work? Listening in on Spidermans conversations [and bugging his suit] In #4 at the funeral it was interesting to see he still has a little bit of compassion left in him. The TIE IN with Iron Man is coming up in November so maybe then we'll see why he's doing all this stuff.
I think the heroes have been thrown into situations that we haven't seen them in before, so they are sort of flying by the seat of their pants. I don't think anyone is out of character at all, but I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on why they are.
On a slightly different note, although I'm very much enjoying Civil War (although Front Line is getting more annoying with each issue) Marvel is planning ANOTHER Spider-Even for February next year which will see him don the black costume again. Now, I'm not against events at all, especially if they are good events, I think I'm the only person who actually enjoyed House of M. Still, ANOTHER even for Spidey is getting a bit much; I mean the guy hasn't had a moment to be Spidey for ages.
Lets look at it, he had to put up with House of M, in which he regained and then re-lost Gwen, then there was The Other which, really, was just stupid, then he gets shoved into Civil War and unmasked (although I DO think that was a very brave, interesting move on Marvel's part and Stan Lee himself has said it's a cool idea) and then, next year, will have this next one and, if Joe Q. has his way it looks like MJ is going to snuff it.
I mean, bloody hell, and let the character breath! He's just been the but of every event for the last year or so. And, if they DO kill off Mary Jane I am going to be oh-so pissed. I'd consider dropping the book, and they'd only keep me on it is the stories were EXTRAMLY good (well, I might drop Amazing, but I'd keep Friendly Neighbourhood because Peter David's writing is brilliant)
Anyway, that’s my 2 cents.
