another brainstorm ( collect them all)
DC has been doing those split book minis ( Mystery in Space and Tales of the Unexpected. Both highly recommended) and I was thinking how Moonstone has all these great characters that got a one shot and we never saw again.
A splitbook( or even a big anthology like the old DC Adventure comics, though that sounds greedy) would be a great way to put more of the second tier guys in the spotlight.
There could be a Noir split book, a western and even a monster one.
Just a thought.
AWESOME idea man!! The biggest problem I have for Moonstone is that they don't follow up on about, oh say, 90% of the their comics! This might be because of low sale figures [???] but come on Moonstone I need more KHAN damnit!!
Plus, some more Westerns would be sweet as well
For aviators, I'd also like to see Steve Canyon and Buz Sawyer.
From the adventure comic strips:
Flash Gordon
Buck Rogers
Secret Agent X-9
Mandrake
The Lady Phantom
Brenda Starr
Red Barry
Rip Kirby
Friday Foster
If one isn't careful, these kinds of lists can easily get way out of hand.
New thought for Moonstoners:
I noticed that Wildstorm has gotten the comic rights to Freddy and Jason and was thinking, what famous monsters would make a good adition to the Moonstone stable?
I like the monster one shots, but I'm trying to think of a monster that could sustain a series.
Dark Horse has the Universal guys last I knew, as well as Alien and Predator.
Any thoughts? I'm coming up blank.
Trog?
After reading Chuck Dixon's Rush City, some Super vehicle type stuff comes to mind:
Knight Rider
Air Wolf
Blue Thunder: I may be in a minority here, but I liked the Blue Thunder series better than Airwolf. I thought the by play with Dick Butkus and Bubba Smith was great.
And my favorite of the genre: Street Hawk.
I like the idea of some air heroes, but would probably want to see older characters, like G-8 or Biggles. I love biplanes.
I was just checkiing out a site on old cliffhanger serials, and wondering who has the rights to some of those guys? A bunch of those heroes werre created because the movie guys couldn't get a hold of the known characters they wanted.
Might be cool to see a comic featuring Rocketman, The Copperhead or the Green Archer.
I think Moonstone would do great with everything about Dick Tracy.
Here's my wishlist:
Mandrake the Magician

Garth

Rip Kirby

My wishlist:
Ongoing Dracula and Frankenstein series
Regular doses of Sherlock Holmes
Airboy in his own book
Flash Gordon (but not based on the new TV series, which looks just awful)
Buck Rogers/Armageddon:2419 (the original pulp version)
Lin Carter's Thongor of Lemuria or John Jakes' Brak – Moonstone needs a S&S series of its own
Regular Wyatt Earp and Cisco Kid minis
That last list got me thinking of sci-fi series:
Captain Future: his best friend was a brain in a jar and he owned the moon.
Time Machine
John Carter, Warlord of Mars: or does Dark Horse still have the rights?
