I know I'm late, but I just picked up the Fear three pack.
Like the idea of this series. You guys should do more. Let's see some Giant Monsters or Frankenstien themed issues!
Ghosts: liked Raja Yah a lot. Very fun, creepy, victorian style story. The other two were just okay.
Sea Creatures: Loved the frog story, Goldfish was fun.
What was up with 'On the Rocks'? kind of cute 'with a twist story', but didn't seem to fit the Sea Creature theme very well.
Great Black Lagoon cover.
Vampire Vixons: Best of the bunch. All three stories were fun reads with nice twists on the vampire theme.
Hey
Thanks for the kind words about Raja Yah, and the other Moonstone Monsters books too. Susan and I loved writing that story, not the least reason being the thrill of seeing it rendered in the fantastic artwork of Doug Klauba!
The art was great. Captured the feel of a victorian mystery story.
Fun series. Hope you guys do more.
Be cool to see the Phantom go up against Raja Yah.

Glad you liked the Vampire Vixens stories, too! I did the one about 1920's Harlem. I was inspired by a poem by Claude McKay called Harlem Dancer.
Man, one nice review and I am networking with all kinds of creative writer types.
Kind of cool.
Never happened to me when I went to the DC boards.
I'm a sucker for historical fantasy, especially anything late 1800's to ww2, so the vampire story was sure to get a thumbs up from me.
Monsters is a fun series.
Could be better with a giant monsters issue. ( nothing says quality literature like some giant ants or a a big lizard trashing a city)

Yeah thats the thing I love about this place, chatting with some really friendly writers like Mike Bullock, Len Kody, Dave Ulanski etc, etc. It's an amazing feeling chatting to these guys about their work!
Hey TCH-
Thanks for the thumbs up on "Raja Yah" a project that Susan, Clay and I are very proud of... I love the Havelock character and I'm sure that I'll be revisiting him sometime in the future. Time will tell.
I illustrated their story in an homage to the classic Warren magazine stories in Eerie and Creepy.
When I first received the script (way back) it blew my mind and agreed to do it
immediately. I'm glad they picked me!
The art had a great old fashioned vibe to it.
Would be very cool to see some kind of sequel down the road, having either Havelock or Raja Yah show up again.
Doug
You know you only have to say the word and we'll quit our jobs to have the time to write a Havelock script for you to draw! Well, maybe not quit our jobs but we'll stay up real late to do it.
Another Monsters One shot to review:
Mummies: touch of the unholy was decent. Felt bad for that poor woman.
The pin up page had a nice pulp/ Laura Croft vibe.
Curse of the Mummy: Yeah! Bill the Eygption! Be funny to see him pop up in more Moonstone titles. The story was a nice twist on mummy curse stories.
Silent Sphinx had a nice pulp sci-fi feel to it.
and of course, I love the Ron Frenz covers
Hopefully you guys will get around to doing vol. 2 of these one shots. Like to see more.
maybe one on those giant monsters that showed up in so many 50's sci-fi films or mad scientists?
