I am beginning to think that there might be a reason for Miguel and Carlos trading places in part one, and here is obviously the right place to ask if this is the case.

Unfortunately, the only reason is simply human error. The colorist colored them wrong. Have a look at the shirts they're wearing and you'll see.
On behalf of the creative team behind the book, I sincerely apologize for this error.

Mike, there is no need for an apology. I know that you are not responsible. If this is a mistake, it does not affect the story. We all make them. Ask my other half.
Thank you for answering so swiftly and kindest regards,

I am curious about the use of tigers in Africa.
Me too. Though tigers are infinitely more colourful than African lions, I was of the mind they're native to Eurasia and Indo-Malaya. Are these Siberian or Sumatran? Or perhaps Bangal as opposed to Bengal LOL.
The tigers have been seen in the Phantom comic strip since it was created by Lee Falk in 1936. Back then, the location of the Phantom's jungle was kept very vague with both Asian and African elements. In some interviews Falk said that he preferred to picture Bangalla as sort of an island between Asia and Africa. Finally, it seems that Falk decided upon an African setting, but the Asian tigers remained, perhaps by mistake. In later years Falk created a story about how the tigers came to Bangalla.
Thanx for the insight into the "Bangal" tigers, Andreas. The Phantom's history is so rich and varied that it is always interesting to hear about creators' choices and justifications for things, especially pioneers like Lee Falk!
Over at the Phantom Phorum there is a nice discussion about the tigers (need to dig through it though)

Also i regards to my review on my blog, I personally hate reading long articles and reviews on the net, so I myself write short as possible as I know myself that my time is sparce and so I write a little bit and hopefully wet their hunger enough to buy it and find out themselves...

Thanks for understanding, Pip. As I said a few weeks ago, I really think we should have re-named issue 12 "Phantom: Murphy's Law of the Jungle". More bad luck hit that issue than any other comic I've ever been involved with.
Oh well, #13 should be out within a month and, so far (kneels and prays
) everything has gone well with that issue.
