After showing a drawing I did to Doug Klauba, he suggested I try something similar with the Phantom. Four rubbish works later I finally have one I'm happy with, so I thought I'd share it with all of you and, hopefully, get some feedback.

I like the mood you have been able to put into the image, but the Phantom himself looks a bit "cartoony". Still, it's a great work!
I like the picture, but honestly, it looks more to me like "Phantom Manga" than Phantom Noir. Not saying that's a bad thing, mind.
Your drawing truly depicts "The Gray Ghost", as Falk originally intended him to be.

As for it looking "cartoony" well, yeah, that is my style, most of my art has a slight "animated" look to it as I'm a huge fan of early 90s, late 80s cartoons and draw much inspiration from those.
Not manga though! Bletch!

It reminds me of the Aeon Flux animation that used to run on MTV... good stuff!
I was gonna say that a Phantom manga would be pretty cool, but since Dougy seems a tad sensitive about that, I'll go with my B) comment that it reminds me of the art style of Batman: TAS.
Then I start thinking of Timm/Dini doing a Phantom cartoon and I get light headed and need to lie down.

Lol, sorry about the anime comment. It's just where I went to art school EVERYONE was doing anime so I tried VERY hard to be diffirent. My style is not in anyway anime influenced so yeah, it's just I try hard not to be "just another anime artist."
What is the TAS in Batman:TAS?
And Mike, Aeon Flux was SO cool. It seems to be considered anime too, but I don't think it really is, it's it's own style. Phantom 2040 was similar to it also.
I understand about the anime feelings.
In my house, if the heroes don't have spikey hair, my son won't watch it. Makes me crazy.

I would love to see the guys behind it try a Phantom cartoon. I'd settle for an animated feature, like 'Mask of the Phantasim'.
