Forget about the Marvels and the DC's, I'm talkling about the Moonstone's and the ummmm... that's where I need your help guys [and gals] I'm interested in checking out some of those lesser know comic companies but I don't know of anyWall

So any Indies [Independent] Comics] out there that you could recommend? The kinda stories I like are: action and suspense [Indiana Jones style], sci fi [like Battlestar Galactica or something], horror [stuff like Kolchak the Night Stalker].

Thanks in advance!
Let's see here ...

IDW - Cobb Off The Leash, Fallen Angel, and the 30 Days of Night mini-series
Alias - Revere
Burlyman - Doc Frankenstein

I can't remember which company puts out Athena Voltaire, but the title is definitely in the Indiana Jones style of adventure.
if you are in a non-capes mood, I recommend any of the minis Warren Ellis has done for Wildstorm.
Ocean and Tokyo Stormwarming are summer sci-fi movies in comic form.
Red and Reload read like a good action flick.
Fell is a wonderfully surreal TV detective show.

You can find them all in either trades or the cheap bin.

Runners is a great sci-fi series about the alien crew of a cargo ship that get caught in the middle of a big political plot. It's by Serve Man press and I think the first five issues are collected in a TPB.

Aside from that,I like to paw through the cheap bin at my local shop. For fifty cents, I'm willing to give moree stuff a try and you stumble upon some gems that way.
If you're into Battlestar Galactica, man are you in luck! Dynamite Entertainment have just launched TWO BSG series, one based upon the new, 2005 re-visioning of the show AND a series based upon the Classic BSG series. I've been buying both and they just ROCK! Issue 3 of New BSG just came out, and issue 2 of Classic BSG is out very soon.

To top it off there are also going to be two mini series, the first which is out next month is called Battlestar Galactica: Zarek and covers the life of the Tom Zarek character from New BSG when he was a child liveing under Cylon rule and how he became the political activist he is today.

The second mini is Battlestar Galactica: Cylon Appocolypse which is based in the Classic BSG universe.

Apart from that I'd suggest you get the Vertigo series Y the Last Man and Fables, both are avalable in TPB format. Virgin Comics series Devi is a nice fantasy title, ad is Bone which you can get in B&W TPBs from Iamfe of coloured editions from Schoolastic. I'm also just getting into the Indy scene myself, so I'd suggest going to Newsarama and checking out their Best Shots and Your Indy Week columns as you'll find some nice stuff in their. Also, Broken Frontier ofetn have previews of indy titles (as do Newsarama) which are worth a look.

I hope that helps. ;p
I have to admit that I buy just as many indies as I do DC, Marvel and Dark Horse. I don't know if any of these titles would appeal to you but some of my favorites are: Fear Agent, a retro sci-fi action series from Image (now at Dark Horse). The Black Coat, Athena Voltaire and Horrorwood all three from Ape Entertainment. The Leading Man from Oni. Geof Darrow's The Shaolin Cowboy from Burlyman. My BIG find this past summer convention season was Cursed Pirate Girl from Jeremy Bastian, available from Comixpress ( a great indie site if your looking for creator self published books ).  I can't gush enough about Jeremy's work ( Brucey, I don't know if it will appeal to you considering what you listed as interests, but you should look into it ), highly recommended. There's some other good stuff on the Comixpress site, like Oxbluud and Cannon Boy... so you'll have to look over some of the listed titles and descriptions. Coming up from Olympian Publishing is the return of The Nocturnals, one of the best horror titles ever, back in print and a new series to begin soon after. Something to look forward to....
There's a lot of great books available and of course a great place to find them are direct from the creators in Artist  Alley at conventions. I've only touched on a few of my favorites, I'm sure you'll find some that you love as you do an indie search.
Cheers!
Thanks for all your help guysGrin I appreciate it! I can't believe I didn't know about the "Battlestar Galactica" comicsWall.... tells you how much I know of the comic book worldTongue03
