Ticktock,

I've got to say that I found the book Arcanum by Wheeler to be disappointing. Something similar which worked much better is a graphic novel, Necronauts by Frazer Irving and Gordon Rennie. It's terrific! "WHEN THE WORLD-FAMOUS ESCAPOLOGIST Harry Houdini slips into a near-death state while practicing his act, something horrible from the boundaries of consciousness follows him back...

Now Houdini must join forces with the era's most famous aficionados of the uncanny ‹ Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Charles Fort and H.P. Lovecraft ‹ and try to defeat an evil force which wants to enslave the human race.

However, this intrepid group must not only face the enemy's terrifying agents of Earth, but also a traitor in their midst. Not to mention the dire, eldritch horrors which lurk just beyond the veil of sanity..."

It appeared originally in 2000 AD and was collected as a graphic novel.

Well, I finally got around to ordering this book. Thanks for the good words Carnacki. I saw at Amazon that the next book, Evil Ways, is due out in December.

While on the subject, how many of you have read Arcanum by Tom Wheeler? It's rather good, I nearly finished it in one sitting. The cast includes Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Marie Laveau, Harry Houdini and HP Lovecraft taking on Alistair Crowley. Highly recommended.

Who published 'To Battle Beyond'? That one sounds fun.
Is it Moonstone? Thought it might be because of Domino Lady.
Hey TCH,

It was enormous fun. The book is published by Marietta Publishing and is available through Amazon.com and the usually suspects.

And of course everyone must read The Chinatown Death Cloud Peril by Paul Malmont, a terrific pairing of Lester Dent and Walter Gobson (creators of Doc Savage and the Shadow) in a wonderful pulp adventure.
Thanks for the info. I'll have to track it down.
I have read 'Chinatown Death cloud'. Interesting story that didn't always work, but was fun spotting all the famous guest stars.
Carnacki,

I guess I'll start looking for Necronauts now; thanks for the recommendation. I saw To Battle Beyond over on Amazon a few days ago, maybe I'll try that as well. Chinatown Death Cloud sounds like a lot of fun also.

Walter Gibson. Walter GIBSON. I can too spell it.

Right now I'm catching up on the "High Seas Cthulhu" anthology from Elder Signs Press, edited by William Jones. Some good stories, including one by C. J. Henderson, and I'm enjoying it so far.
I should mention that before this I read "Sherlock Holmes and the Terror Out of Time" by Ralph E. Vaughan, (Gryphon Books (USA), 2002 [pb]); which had been on my To Be Read piles for way too long. Don't know how easy it is to find that.

Look for "The New ELDRITCH Adventures of Becky Sharp" by Micah Harris. I think that this is self-published, but this is a splendid and often funny crossover novel with the Becky Sharp of "Vanity Fair," the Cthulhu Mythos, Pellucidar and King Kong, Captain Clegg (AKA Dr. Syn or Scarecrow) and more.

Look at the Wold Newton pages at http://www.pjfarmer.com
This is a pretty cool thread. Keep it up Carnacki!
