Kolchak Tales Frankenstein Agenda #1 Incentive Ulanski Variant Cover $6.00
Kolchak Tales Frankenstein Agenda #1 Regular Cover $3.50
Ya beat me to the punch, Mr. Moderator-Man! Was just coming on to announce the impending arrival of Frankenstein Agenda #1! So, everyobe... yeah, what he said!
There may be some question regarding that cover price on the variant cover, though. Those were sent out withOUT a cover price (as many variants are) so depending on a retailer's particular circumstance for receiving such cover, they can alter the price accordingly. Is $6 perhaps what it will be selling for through the Moonstone website..?
Anyway! It's cool! And worth the wait! Check it out quickly!
I just this minute finished reading the first issue and I can't really critique a story only a third finished but I liked what I saw. However, I couldn't help feeling a little disappointed in the issue's shortness (the several pages of ads and the editorial deceived me a bit in that regard) One thing that is driving me crazy, though, is the continuity. Just when does this story take place? Obviously it's after Tales of the Night Stalker #3, but the current story arc doesn't have Kolchak working under Vincenzo. Does this take place in the past or the future?

Hello, Isaac! Thought I'd put my coffee down for a few and take some time to address your questions and comments. Tell your friends how terrific I am!
First of all, we do have 22 full pages of story, just like all of your mainstream Marvel and DC books and such. You don't notice with them cuz they mix their ads in throughout the story. But you know? I feel that really disrupts the flow of a story, so we stick 'em at the end. The editorial is a little something extra I like to do to communicate with the readers, which is something I feel is very important. It's not filler-material, it's something I make sure to leave room for. It's my effort to give you a little something more, not less! I promise. ;p
As far as continuity goes... this is a story that just kind of takes place within the "Kolchak Tales" series, indeed after issue 3. It's specific point in the timeline isn't very important, which is why it takes place in its own miniseries rather that as a numbered issue of the series itself. I will likely assign it a point along the "Kolchak timeline" at some point down the road, when the series and the next couple of issues of "Tales" comes out... and my reason for that will make sense later on. Trust me!
Meanwhile, thanks for reading and dropping the note... and I hope the next couple of issues live up to your expectation!
Oh don't get me wrong, I wasn't complaining (exactly), and understand perfectly why you set all that stuff at the end, it's just that I got kind of spoiled with all the Kochak Tales being 28 pages or longer. I didn't skip ahead to the end so when it ended it took me by surprise, is all. It's very forgiveable considering that between this limited series, the Lovecraft story and Black and Evil Truth there's going to be a new issue every month into the summer. That year or so without an issue was pretty rough.
oh, and btw, I do enjoy the Moonstone ads and the editorials. I'm very curious at what the widescreen Lovecraft graphic novel is going to look like. An oversized "Garfield" compilation?

Well, if you can get your hands on a copy of "Ohantom: Law of the Jungle" or "Ohantom: The Man Eaters," those are two example of what the wide vision books look like. Otherwise... you'll just be surprised when ya see it, I guess!
Yeah, the early issues of Tales were a little longer. They did squeak down a little in page count as time went on. I kinda pushed the envelope for the number of pages we could squeeze into an issue back then. But turning the point of view to more of "the glass is half full," think of it this way... we're not giving you less pages now. We were giving you extra pages before! I know it sounds like I'm really shovelling something there, but it's true! I swear!
Well, for what it's worth, I (for one) am perfectly willing to pay more for more pages!

And just for you, is why we do the occasional 48-page special!

Woo-hoo!
Not a huge Kolchak fan, love the show, the comics have been hit or miss but Michelinie and Layton on a project got my attention.
#1 was a good read. The mystery is interesting and the humor is fun without taking over.
Is it just me or does the 'monster' look a lot like Man-thing?
Looking forward to tracking dow the rest of this mini. Also may try and find the Bigfoot story mentioned as well.
