Hi all! Newby Phantom affictionado. I, too, loved the annual. My review is up over at Broken Frontier for anyone interested in what I thought (shameless plug -- although I have written better... what can ya do, sometimes the words flow and sometimes they don't Fedup) Linkie for those interested http://www.brokenfrontier.com/reviews/de...hp?id=1225

But what I'm really curious about is the latest incarnation of Singh who appears in the last story -- has he appeared before is is this the first time for him? Also, will we be seeing more of him in the future?

Welcome Tonya! thumbs up

Brilliant interview. BF is one of my favorite comic sites and I visit it all the time, it's been really nice to see you guys support the Phantom books.

BTW, I just got a call from my LCS and they DID get a variant edition cover, but for some reason it was back in a diffirent box to other Phantom books. They only got one but knew I'd want it and put it aside for me. I tell you, my comic store is the BEST in the world!

Got the book from the store yesterday. Beautiful pictures and story line.
Frankly speaking, this is the BEST from Moonstone so far. I wish moonstone to publish more books like this.

As a reader of the classic work of Falk I have been a bit reluctant to read the new stories from Moonstone.

Today I got the Moonstone Annual - 1, and I did like it.

Something pussled me a bit, at least Mike clime he wants to write the new stories as close to Falk as possible, but what did we see n the first page? The 3rd Phantom's chronicle 1667? Does the ring a bell?

Think

Wasn't that around the time the 6th Phantom started the Jungle PatrolThink

Hi Ivan,
Glad to know you enjoyed the annual. 1667 is indeed the 6th Phantom, not the 3rd. Looks like the typo demon can even hit writers.

I guess that goes for letting the 3rd/6th having a horse with the name of hero as well?? wink

Doh

Classic_reader, you have put the onus on a few discrepancies in this book which the creators and the people at Moonstone who are responsible for the accuracy of the Phantom family (and horse) tree can't be happy with.

Having said that, I liked the annual and think that Moonstone are moving in the right direction with their material. It kinda feels more like the Phantom I enjoy than earlier effort some years past.

I am amused by the Phantom being pictured as a Casanova in his last meeting with the Singh in this book, and I am struggling to remember any other previous adventure when his character traits were so explained.

By and large, thumbs up.

Errors are not seldom when writing a text, that is true! But I would think that the forming of the Jungle Patrol in 1664 is so well conected to the 6th and known among fans that everyone who opened the book would raise at least one eyebow??

If there is one thing in Falk's chronicles about former Phantom that is important and dated, it is just that event, and the "The Founding of the Jungle Patrol" is also the most popular story among all Barry-fans.

That is why I asked, not to irritate Mike!

We got us a sell out!!!

Congratulations, Moonstone, Mike, Ron et al!!!

It sure is, and the date is written in stone for many fans who, like me, where floored by the story when we first read it. I am not very good with most Phantom dates, but I sure know that one.

By and large, I think Moonstone coped very well with this collection of old stories (and it sure seems to be selling) but surely we need to have a list that corresponds with at least some important milestones in the Phantom's long and illustrious career to be taken seriously by the whole of the Phantom community.

I´ve just finished the Annual and I must say that this was a nice threat. Without a doubt one of the best issues with the Phantom I have read for a long time.
Good, fun and entertaining stories with , mostly, great art!

This is a big step forward Keep up the good work Moons and thank you for a good read !

thumbs up
