My wife and I just watched this film. I was amazed at how much the movie's script has in common with real life events in Uganda right now (re: Invisible Children).

Anyone else seen this film? I highly recommend it. Thought provoking themes, GREAT characterization, well written and enough action to keep anyone awake.
Mike, it would be wonderful if you'd make a habit of handling real life African issues in the Phantom from time to time. For too long, he's ignored the countless problems plaguing the continent, and seeing him deal with the Joseph Kony look-a-like certainly makes him feel a lot more relevant in our world, and I can't describe how much I look forward to reading the story.

I generally think the Phantom's too busy fighting cavemen, and discovering yet another hidden valley/country outside the Skull Cave (not in Moonstone stories, though). It makes him feel a little, well, irrelevant, when millions and millions of African people are dying because of AIDS.

In short, do you have any further plans for real-life based stories after Invisible Children?

Absolutely. After the Invisible Children arc, issue 20 goes back in time to tell a tale of a Phantom from the past, but issue 21 starts the freight train that runs into issue 25, and that entire arc is laced with real world issues.

I haven't seen this particular film yet, though recently I saw "Lord of War" starring Nic Cage. Also a thought-provoking film that touched upon the subject of child soldiers in Africa.
Did you want to know an interesting fact? Uganda is the only African nation were the rate of Aids is going down...
I was at a friends house yesterday and we watched Blood Diamond. When it comes to brilliant movies, it doesn't get ANY better then this. I couldn't take my eyes of the screen it was so damn intense.

MIke, you know more about the current situation in Uganda then me so I'm just wondering, are the ways the kids in "Blood Dimaond" are trained to become soldiers similar to as in Uganda? If so, I didn't know it was this bad. The things that those the kids leaders did is just down right disgusting. I mean, what kind of sicko MAKES A BUNCH OF KIDS GUN DOWN A TRIBE [among other things] with no guilt or remorse?!? Just makes me sick to the stomach.

One of the most powerful movies I have ever seen, and if "Invisible Children" is even half as amazing as this, I will literally worship the ground Mike and Co walk on.

The movie is actually somewhat G-rated compared to what really happens. As horrific of a thought as that is...

And, while I'm hoping the Invisible Children arc will turn heads and make people think, it isn't nearly as powerful as Blood Diamond, IMO.
