This blushing fan girl is thrilled to pieces to see Buckaroo and his Cavaliers are back! I've just read Return of the Screw, which I didn't even know existed until a month ago. I'm a professional fiction writer who has worshipped The Man since the movie. In fact, I missed him so badly that three years ago I started poking around trying to find out about book licensing so that I could write my own licensed sequel. I gave up when no one answered my letters and faxes, despondent over his absence. My friends who went to ComiCon who didn't tell me about the comics will pay, I say! Pay!

Long ago, I even wrote my own Official Buckaroo Banzai Test on that effervescent meme fount otherwise known as OKCupid:

Welcome to the Banzai Institute for Biological Engineering and Strategic Information! So, you think you've got what it takes to become a Hong Kong Cavalier, monkey boy?

Because, you know, what man worthy of me doesn't know his Buckaroo bits? I ask you! (Yes, the test needs to be updated now that I've read the History of BB.)

Can I also say thank goodness that the estrogen levels have risen on the team? I like Lady Gillette (heh) and looking foward to Indigo. (Can't believe I missed the contest! Gah!) The only thing I didn't like about the Cavaliers was the absence of chicks who kick pootage either physically or intellectually. We need another intellectual powerhouse like Penny, a foil to Buckaroo who might occasionally even teach him a thing or two.

Earl, I heart you. I am so glad you're back and that you've brought The Man with you. This has made my year. And as a writer, it's taught me a lot about how you can't keep a good man down.

Yeeeehaw!
Hey! Welcome to the party! OK, it's not a very big party but it beats sitting at home watching Knot's Landing reruns. I was also overjoyed to find that Mac was *finally* telling another Banzai story. In case you haven't read already, Moonstone wants to put out still more BB stuff. On this website they've mentioned a prequel miniseries and a BB encyclopedia, both written by Mac and Richter. Things are looking up for BB fans!
I agree that Gillette's addition is an improvement (though she doesn't do a whole lot in the story). I also like Red River Daddy being added to the Cavaliers. For a group composed of the world's finest scientists/musicians/crimefighters, they've been awfully white in the past.
Anyway, I'm glad you posted because Moonstone needs to know there are a lot of Banzai fans who are dying to see new stories (Did you hear that, Moonstone? You're sitting on a goldmine!!! Publish more Banzai and, by this time next year, you'll be living in a solid gold mansion and fed peeled grapes by scantily-clad fashion models).

P.S.-I skimmed though your blog and found out you're pals with Neil Gaiman. You rock!!!

Thanks, Joey!

Yeah, I was also happy to see Red River Daddy. I can't imagine BB would be either racist or sexist in any way. Um...he really needs to teach Mrs. Johnson how to shoot a gun rather than swinging her purse, but yeah. wink

As for Neil, he's a sweet guy. He's not nearly as involved in my writing these days as he was 7-10 years ago, but he's a great support and resource when the world of publishing is too puzzling. I do hope you'll check out my fiction, though, and decide I rock because of that!

Take care! Grin

Hey!!

Always happy to welcome another lost BBI back into the fold.

Feel free to poke around...see what's what...head over to World Watch OnLine and make sure you hook up with the rest of us over there, too.

Thanks, ArcLight! I just signed up for the Yahoo! Group. I've been to the site in the past, and I'm so happy to have reconnected. Grin03

I'll second that. I got nostalgic today, started looking around for a nice poster of the movie to frame and put up in my pad, followed a few links, found out about the new issues being published, and put in an order for the preview and first three.

Moonstone: As long as you keep making them, I'll keep buying them.

Greetings Lady E,

Took your test, scored an 86, a bit of a disappointing score I might add. Several of your questions did seem a bit odd, like the Whorfin "jet car" as an example. It was a Thermopod and it was a framed photo of himself, not Hitler. Take another close look.

Welcome back to Team Banzai. There is a fair amount of activity considering the lack of "Hollywood" or TV production. Moonstone, bless their hearts from the Great Flying Fish have been doing a super job contributing to keeping the flame burning.
In addition, there is a nice active online group of fans and BBIs. Many websites to check out and in the past 3 years 4 World Watch One newsletters. Check them out at ArcLight's website in the library area. The latest edition of the newsletter was mailed a month ago and will also be available as a PDF file "reel sune."

Entry into all my Team Banzai sites are here: http://www.geocities.com/bbidragon/index.html

Good to meet you,
BBI Dragon
