I guess Mandrake is a difficult character to sell, as his Marvel-miniseries was cancelled after just two issues. However, maybe Moonstone could publish some kind of movie tie-in Mandrake comic, when that Criss Angel starring picture is released? If that happens at all, that is. I can't wait to see the Annual. I assume that Mandrake, like the Phantom, will retain his classic look, and not be updated (like in the film, it seems)? What about Lothar, will he appear?

Tom Mandrake is the coolest name ever. Period.
I think Mandrake could sell. If they did some GNs to start off with as they did with the Phantom it might be OK. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
My only desire for Mandrake's Moonstone appearance(s) is that he doesn't have that magician's stage uniform on in every single panel he's in. Phil Davis drew him in other clothes besides the uniform, and so did Fred Fredericks in the early years. Why he has that uniform in every panel over the last few years, I don't know, but it just doesn't make sense.

Also, is theis going to be the classic Mandrake, or is a Hollywood writer involved in order to test the movie version of the character?

He's handling the Mandrake side of things. If all goes well, he'll be handling more soon. Grin

Very cool.Grin So if you're handling the Phantoms side of the story and Kevin Grevioux is doing the Mandrake part of the story, does this mean that the Annual will be divided into 2 Chapters, one from Mandrakes point of view and the other from the Phantoms??

Not at all. Kevin doesn't have anything to do with the movie. And Kevin is involved because he's a big comic fan, a very talented comic writer and a good friend. No ulterior motives.

Not quite. You'll see soon enough.

I tried posting the first image from the Phantom Annual #2 but all I get is a big fat crossEh

So here's the link taking you to the image. If anyone is able to post the image without any problems please do so as I know how annoying it is sometimes to go to a website to see something

For me personally the Phantom is way to muscular in that image. Apart from that though, it looks good.

I'm not a fan of Underworld but am looking forward to the new annual. I think the first annual was hit and miss, as it essentially told the same two stories over and over again; but as a phan I try to support the work. And quite frankly, even when the Phantom misses the mark it's still a decent read.

Given the Phantom's jungle/voodoo connection, adding a magician could be a lot of fun.
