is in the works. It will feature one, 44 page story co-written by myself and a Hollywood screenwriter who happens ot be writing a new title for Marvel Comics right now as well.

The story will feature the Phantom reuniting with a long time friend to thwart a... well, if I tell you anymore it'll spoil the surprise.

Stay tuned!
The long time friend seemingly being none other than Mandrake (yahoo!), and written by a Hollywood screenwriter, I'm sure this is going to be as good as first Annual.

However: A casual little hint on this screenwriter's identity would be very much appreciated.

(by the way, Mike, next time you talk to him, you ought to tell him he should write a great new Phantom movie as quickly as possible. The world NEEDS the Ghost to Walk to the screen again, to show all the wannabees how you properly fight evil and injustice. wink )
...so, NO little hints about anything related to this project, Mike? I'm dying to know more about this thing, so please get on with dropping little tidbits from time to time. wink The hype can never start too early, after all.

When will it be released?
I'm really glad you're doing a second annual, but I have mixed feelings about getting a screen writer in. There are dozens of movie and TV writers working in comics now it takes away possible jobs for writers who have stuck with this medium. It seems that many screen writers come into comics to write a few issues and then take off again after they have made some easy money. They don't actually respect the art form, it's just a quick fix. I won't name any names, but there are a few who have struck me that way. Not all of them, but some. Still, I'm sure Moonstone would choose someone respectable.

However, a number of screen writers over at Marvel are doing a brilliant job. Kevin Grevioux who wrote the Underworld films is doing an excellent job of the New Warriors and Grek Pak's Battlestar Galactica series was a lot of fun and I've hear World War Hulk is brilliant as well. So, saying that the screen writer is currently working at Marvel isn't much of a hint but I'm looking forward to seeing who it is.

Well, the screenwriter on this is a good friend of mine who actually wanted to write comics, but got shut down until he made a name for himself writing movies. I'm positive you'll be happy once you find out who he is...

Well, Mike, if he's your mate he can't be too bad then!

He couldn't get into comics, but he got into screen writing? When did he try to enter the industry, the 90s? (Tee hee)

Anyway, I am looking forward to seeing who it is.
Would have been cool if it was Josh Wedon, but I think that would be way too good to be true.
Be interesting to see Wedon's take on the character.
I have no idea who this could beEh
I let the cat outta the bag on this earlier on another website.

If no one finds it anytime soon, I'll post a link. wink
