I have shot with a Colt 45 from 1911 myself (only at a bullseye, off course), and, although my knowledge of weapons are limited, it seemed like a handy gun for fighting all kinds of scum...

One of the apects that are cool is how he often uses the guns for totally different things than shooting, like in the Billy Zane film where he use them to glide down an elevator shaft. Also, he is the only character I can think of who actively uses guns, yet never actually shoots anybody with them.
