The first Mandrake tale from Moonstone is being drawn right now. Look for it in the back of CAPTAIN ACTION. thumbs up

can't wait!
Any hints about the plot? A treasure-hunt or something is what the title reminds me of, but you never know. Grin

And a question: Will the character be modernized in the same way you have done with the Phantom (although the Fred Fredericks' comic strips feels very up-to-date, if you ask me, I guess certain stuff must probably be done to make the magician appeal to modern day American comic book buyers)? Is Mike the regular writer on this as well as the Phantom?

"Jewel..." is a short, six page story, written by me with art by Samicler Gonçalves. It's meant to be a teaser for the upcoming Mandrake comics.

Just as was done with The Phantom, Moonstone will establish a new continuity, based on Lee Falk & Fred Fredericks tales, for Mandrake. I spoke with Fred on the phone when we first began this and I'll certainly be heeding his input. (It's awesome to be able to chat with someone like him, but that's another topic altogether).

There should be some teaser art soon.

I HIGHLY suggest Moonstone prints this in an issue of the Phantom as well as I'm sure many, many Phans will be interested to know of a new Mandrake series. Also, what issue of Captain Action will the teaser be appearing in?
Cautiously optimistic.
Let's wait and watch! thumbs up
So, Captain Action #0 is out in April. Solicitations for this are currently open in the current edition of Previews. Is this the issue Mandrake will appear in (I wouldn't think so as it's a #0 issue). If so we'd better get to ordering it (but I'll probably check it out anyway.)

Nope, Mandrake will appear in CA #1. But from what I understand, you don't want to miss CA #0.

Thanks Mike. Oh, and yep, I sent my Previews order in yesterday - will Captain Action #0 on it! thumbs up

Had never heard of Samicler Gonçalves before, but after a quick google search, his art certainly looks good.

Interestingly, this will make Mike the first person to ever work on the Phantom and Mandrake at once since Lee Falk himself (or did Fellini write Phantom stories as well as Mandrake? I can't recall if he did). A real honour.
