Damn good suggestion, Brucey. I would like to see more stories like Legacy, but I'm not sure how a regular series with them would work out... Then again, I'll surely be buying it anyway.

Thanks Walker!! I too would like to see more stories like Legacy as the whole Chronicle format was VERY COOL! I also can't see how they'd work out in a regular series, they just seem like the kind of thing you'd publish every so often rather than every month or so.

I do want to do more Chronicle type books (and I applaud Ben & Joe for coming up with that format, very ingeniuos) but it would definitely be a rare thing. It's aint easy to do a 96 page book.
How should I start this...? I'm exhausted! And I did the con for only two days, but WOW this convention is amazing. San Diego Comic -Con is an experience that one has a hard time forgetting and the crowds are ridiculously huge. My legs were shot from doing the "shuffle walk" while trying to make my way through the convention floor.
Friday started out with breakfast with scribe Rafael Nieves, now becoming a tradition we started at the NY Comic-Con. It's always great to sit and chat with the "man of ideas" which is what I call my good friend Raf (he's got a million of 'em). We then walked to the convention right before it opened it's doors to the public and strolled through the aisles oowing and aahing some incredible and inspiring works of art. Everything from the small press area (where I ran into Tony Fleecs and Kurt Mitchell) to Artists Alley where we chatted with Alex Saviuk. Lot's of great art everywhere! And not enough time to soak it all in. We checked in at the Moonstone booth with Lori G. Eric J. and Head Honcho Joe. Meeting Mike Bullock was also a huge highlight for me as well. After hearing him discuss his projects and the upcoming Phantom run really got me excited about the things to come. There's a photo of everyone sitting at the table before the panel started and we all seem to be very serious: you'll see Raf and I looking at Mike's binder that had all the upcoming pages for the Phantom 12. Well... we were seriously drooling over the contents. The pages are exciting!
The panel was a lot of fun hearing everyone discuss the Phantom at Moonstone. It was great to see Ben show just in time for the panel to start as well as meeting Art and Paul. And a BIG thank you goes out to the gracious John Siuntres from Word Ballon who took the time in his very busy schedule to record the panel as well as thanks to all who attended the discussion. It was great to meet new faces and many Phan's that don't interact on the Phorums. They were true die hard Phan's as anyone that I've talked with on the Phorums. Phan's Bob and Roman bought many drawings from me (thanks guys, if you're out there) and Phan's picked up posters, book marks and the new books available at the booth....
I was looking forward in hanging out with Joe, Lori G. and Eric J. again (and I did spend a short amount of time together discussing artsy things with Raf and Eric) but because of some commitments with Century Guild and Olympian Publishing, I sadly had to postpone it until next week at Wizard World Chicago (that is if they'll have time for me). There were many friends that I had wanted to stop and spend time with but if you've ever been to this con - the days fly by and you simply run out of time. It's crazy fun.
Now, it's back to work - I have deadlines.

SO glad it was a success!

I'll do that too! I haven't heard the recording from SD yet, but I've downloaded a number of audio interview from the site since Doug put me onto it and they are brilliant - trully brilliant! I take my hat off to you Mr. Siuntres! wink

Well said Mike. I skipped Sunday because of family commitments but was tempted to stop by since Sundays aren't as busy. But, later found out that it was just as crowded.
But, hey- looking forward to next year.
And then there's Wizard World Chicago next week....

Thanks, Doug. It would be great to be able to get all of us together for some R&R at some point, but with our current schedules that might not be possible until after SDCC 3006. Doh

EricJ doing the art for #16Dance! A 3 part story arc [#17-19]DanceDance and a double sized #25DanceDanceDance Sounds VERY promising!!

Mike and Doug have done a great job summing up the craziness that is the SD con! Those of you that have never been, start making those plans for next year because you never know what Moonstone might be up to at the SD con 2007! Be there! I know this Gal will be!

My quick highlights for the show, that I forgot to mention in my first post:

1)walking down the street and crossing paths with John Cassady, my heart went pitter-patter, it's true girls, he is just as good looking in person as he is in all the pictures. (Pst...Of course I think that Moonstone's Phantom crew are a hunky lot, especially that EricJ, but don't tell anyone I said that. I've never seen a better bunch of comic creators, those pictures say it all! Not a geek among them, in fact they all look professional and charasmatic. It was SO much fun seeing so many Phantom creators together to help celebrate our man in purple's big birthday!)

2) having dinner with Tom Defalco and Danny Fingeroth, great guys from Marvel's recent past. It was great fun hearing their opinions on the recent batch of superhero films! Let's just say that they agreed with me that both X-men 3 and Superman Returns were "fun" but definitely had some problems to say the least.

and 3) as I alluded to in #1, Moonstone's Phantom panel! I couldn't be there, since SOMEONE had to work the Moonstone booth, but I was so happy to have been able to co-ordinate the panel, and yes you better believe I will get working on NEXT year's panel as soon as I am able, because believe me there is NO such thing as too much planning when it comes to the SD con!

Onto the next biggest show: Chicago Wizard World here we come!
