I thought I'd ring in the new digs with a thread where you can ask me questions about the ongoing Phantom series. So, fire away!

I heard somewhere that ERIC J is doing the artwork for one of your stories, is this true? I loved his artwork on the "Slave Trade" arc and would love to see him again!

You'll find out as soon as the podcast for the Phantom Panel runs online. Or once someone else spills the beans. :sly02:
I know it's probably too early to ask, but are there any other projects of yours for Moonstone aside from Phantom goodness? I'd love to see your take on some monsters, Frankenstein for example.

D'Oh. (Now with smiley: Doh) I overlooked the part "ask about PHANTOM". So let me come up with a Phantom related question: What drew you to the character initially? I mean aside the fact that it's a paying gig. Were you a fan of him since childhood or did you get to know him through the movie with Billy Zane (like some people who ask questions before reading your post more carefully)?

Damn, it's really hot here in Germany. I'm Greek, my body should actually feel like home, but standing before the computer for five hours or so isn't helping, it seems to me. Anyway. Keep it up. Can't wait to read your first Phantom issue. And beyond, of course.
Ask Mike? Kind of unnecessary, I've been doing so for a very long time now... :smokin: (what does that smiley mean?)

Hey, just got an idea. Why don't you contact the people at Baldwin Entertainment Group, and convince them that you are the right guy to write The Ghost Who Walks movie that never seems to get off the ground? Yes, I know, off topic.

I asked this question over at the old boards right before it was closed...
We are going to see the Sky Band again in the annual. Will this be the updated take which we saw in Ben's The Aviatrix, or will it be the old fashioned, Falk-style pirates, led by Sala?

I actually wanted to do a Frankenstein story, but it doesn't appear be in the cards currently.

I've loved the Phantom since I was a kid reading the newspaper strips. Now, I'll admit I wasn't phanatical about it, as I've always been a comic book fan and comic strips just never held enough info in one particular strip to hold my interest. I always wanted more than any one Sunday strip could provide. When I heard Moonstone was doing a Phantom ongoing, I got pretty excited and made sure I picked 'em up and loved every minute of it.

I think Ben has dibs on asking for the screenwriting job for the second movie. But you'll soon be hearing about a Moonstone special project along those lines that might pique your interest.

I better squash this here and now: The Sky Band will not be in the annual, I think there must have been some confusion at the panel. If memory serves, someone in the audience asked about old villians returning and we did mention the SB and referred to Ben's issues with the new SB, but they're not in the annual. The new head of the Singh Brotherhood will be in the annual, however.

Another project?!?! More good news!! Although this secrecy stuff is starting to get to me thoughMad
If Ben Raab writes the Phantom movie [which I doubt will ever get of the ground] I reckon we'll see alot of action and a lot to do with the orogin To bad about the Sky Band not appearing in the Annual but can't wait to see the new Singh Brotherhood......as well as the new Singh Leader!

Can't wait to hear about that. I don't have a clue what you are talking about, but I'm surely looking forward to it. :grin04: A futuristic Phantom story, maybe?
BTW, is this the same secret special project you talked about in another thread?

Oh, shame. I hope we will see them again in a story some day. You can't keep great villains down, y'know.

As for the return of Singh, I hope it'll be good. Interestingly, the Singh brotherhood got a new leader quite recently in the Egmont Phantom series as well; Sandal Singh, daughter of murdered former leader Dogai Singh.

Oh, and BTW, since this thread is called Ask Mike after all... Have you ever seen the old Phantom serial, or the Phantom 2040 or Defenders of the Earth? Yeah, I know, useless questions, but it's out of pure curiosity.

Yes. One and the same. Grin

Well, who the leader is (as in his origins and bloodline) will be a bit of a mystery for awhile, but his intentions won't be.

A friend is supposed to be sending me the serials on DVD soon. I've checked out 2040 for a bit, but it didn't grab me like the newspaper strips and I've not had the chance to see Defenders yet.

Ok, this is a bit of a phan-wank (can I use that term here?Think) qustion ,but here goes. Appart from the Singh and the Sky Band (as they have been covered) is there any "classic" Phantom hero that you'd love to bring back, such as the Gibbs Brothers, T (for Terrorists) the Vampires, The Goggel Eyed Pirates (THAT would be cool - the Goggled Eyes all teched up ooooh Dance)?

I don't know if you watch the new Doctor Who series (if you haven't seen it you're missing out!) but they od this thing where they have new, original monsters nearly every ep but the big cliffhanger hanger eps (the last two of the season) and one of two others for set up bring back an up-dated Classic series monster. I reckon it'd be cool to do somethng similar with the Phantom comic. But thats just me and I'm a geek.

P.S. I got a PM from Mr. Doug Klauba a second ago and he said that he got you so sign a Phantom poster for me that he's gonna mail over (he's my new best friend) and I just wanted to say thanks for signing it. So, thanks Mike! :onetooth:
