What my beef is is basically what Germ says, people who won't accepts change in any capacity at all. They refuse to accept that to grow as a character that writers of The Phantom must try new approaches. Rather, they simply want to see a Lee Falk emulation and no character is going to grow that way.
As for where you "fit", well for me you'd be on the side of the fence with the good marks. You've admitted that LOTJ didn't quite do it for you, which is completely fine BECAUE you also stated how you understood that the writers were trying something different that you seem to be of the mind set that that is a good thing. For your posts you come across as someone who is willing to check out new takes/ interpretations of the character and understand that they must at least be tried to the character to move on.

Yes, we need innovation, but there are so many ways a title can develop that I am not surprised that we occasionally have different takes on where The Phantom should go. I think even Germ's 'fuddy daddies' should be entitled to their view and respected for it.

Forgive my ignorance, but who exactly are you referring to? The people who disagree with you on your own forum? I find the discussions there interesting and sometimes I agree with what these people say. I like the 'old' Phantom too, so does that make me at least a semi-fuddie duddie?

Hey Pip,
My post was most definetely not directed at you, and if I came off the wrong way, please accept my apology. My original post about accusing people of harassing and insulting my intelliegence was not directed at you but at the "Falk Purists" [fuddy daddies doesn't quite do it for me] Over at the Chronicle Chamber forum there was a bloke by the name of IVAN who got banned about 6-7 times [a tlast count anyways] this guy has even got banned from THIS forum as well. Why? Because he was just a mean old man who verbally attacked you if you didn't agree with his opinions, this guy even told me that I wasn't smart enough to talk about the Phantom and there are other things which I won't get into it. This is the "Fuddy Daddy" that Dougy and Germ are talking about.

No, not just at my forum, at others as well. I have nothing against them liking the old Falk stories; many of my favourite Phantom tales are Falk tales, that’s fine. My problem is with the few people who REFUSE to listen, acknowledge, hear, respect, consider etc ANY opinion or thought apart from their own. The kind of people that, unless you agree with the 100% will accuse you of not being a "true" phan or regard your opinions as unimportant or generally be disrespectful f*&^^%$#. That's what I'm talking about and, unfortunately, there are a number of those in the Phantom community.
Its just a comic man, chill out!!!
