I don't know about those other shows, but for me, this is the best thing related to TV ever created, well, besides the remote control that is. For you comic fans, I believe Jeph Loeb is now in charge of this masterpiece. I can't wait for season III to begin.
I know Mike I know, I am SO excited! Hopefully we will have less reruns this year, or they can at least show the reruns in a more logical fashion, it was trully messed up last season. I also can't wait for season 2 to come out on dvd, so I can rewatch that season to pick up on all the neato little details I missed the first time around. I certainly hope they can keep up the quality of the show, fingers crossed!
Last I heard, the plan this year is to show larger chunks of episodes and then chunks of repeats instead of the mess last year with one new show, then four repeats, then a clip-show, then a new show, then three more repeats.....
It got so bad some genius came up with the most useful website ever:

It must be an American thing ;p. America seems to absolutaly love this show, but everyone I've talked to about it in Australia can't stand it - unless they are 16 and then they only watch it casue its the "in" thing.
Mike, Lori, I respect you very much, but I have to say that, IMO, Lost is one of the most irritating shows I've ever seen

. An hour long episode and about 15min worht of stuff happens. It move so sllllllloooooooowwww I almost fell into a coma watching it.
I MADE myself watch the complete first season, and after every ep I kept thinking "the Yanka are raving about it, it must get better soon." But no. In all honestly I completley predicted the last ep of season one.
Now, I'll admit I haven't seen any of season 2. I simply couldn't be bothered to watch it and there are, IMO, so many better shows on TV.
I just don't understand what's supposed to be os brilliant about Lost. Maybe you can explain it to me?

Maybe you can explain it to me?

I can't speak for anyone else, but the thing about a story (any story) that gets me jazzed up is how it engages my imagination. Does the story turn on my "make-believe" machine and get it running at full capacity? Does it inconspicuously force me to dream up what-ifs, alternate endings, and completely unrelated tales of my own? Does it provide my mind with just enough information to automatically fill in the blanks from my own imagination?
99.99% of the TV shows I've seen don't do that. And roughly 70% of the movies I've watched don't either. Moreover, for a high percentage of those that do, what I concoct based on the information given, is the same sum we end up with when the credits roll.
Most are merely clichés built around new characters and situations. For every Blade Runner, there are a hundred Ultra Violets.
With Lost, my imagination kicks into overdrive. I'm taking bits and pieces of the plot, different clues dropped, different 'red herrings' and running with it until the show is over and long after.
From another POV, I admire the craftsmanship of the story construction, the characterization, the skill level of the actors & actresses as well as the cinematography employed by the director.
Now, I have no idea why anyone else enjoys it, but that's why I dig it so much, in a nutshell.
That's a pretty good explanation in my book.
I love piecing it together. I love when some seemingly inconsequential bit from earlier episodes takes center stage as something far more.
Strangely, as much as I like keeping an eye out for stuff on the show and trying to piece things together, I have no interest in this online "LOST experience" they're doing. Go figure.
Where I work...LOST is the only show I hear people talking about regularly. Not only the "did you see it?" conversations the next day, but also "can't wait to go home and watch it" on the day it airs.
That's really cool Mike, I'm glad there is a show out there that does that for you.
For me, that show is Doctor Who. Always has been. From the first William Hartnell episode to the latest David Tennant! I know Doctor Who isn't as popular in the US as in Australia (God knows why) so perhaps you folks haven't seen it.
Everything Mike said Lost does for him Doctor Who does for me. The monsters, the worlds, the amazing things that are seen in that show. The danger, the adventure, the excitement. People jump out of planes to get their adrenaline fix, I watch Doctor Who. There is nothing that makes me feel scared, exited, terrified, thrilled, amazed or as intense as when an army of Daleks or Cybermen or Ice Warriors bare down on the Doctor and all he had is his sonic screw driver.
There is nothing that makes me feel more alive then when The Doctor is face to face with the Emperor of the Daleks, millions of humans dieing all around him, no chance of escape and the only certainty is death and the Doctor looks the Emperor Dalek in his one, yellow, bulbus eye, pull out his Sonic Screwdriver and says "I'm going to stop you."
It’s f-ing FANTASTIC!
I used to watch the old Tom Baker "Doctor Who" on PBS...but I never really got into it. It was just kinda cool and different and I was already watching stuff like "The Saint" and "The Avengers" and "The Prisoner" so that just seemed to go together with those.
The first season of the "new Who," with Eccleston - *that's* the "Doctor Who" that grabbed me. I've been fighting not to sneak and download the Tennant eps because I wanted to have their airings on the SciFi Channel to look forward too. Of course by now I've been spoiled like crazy already so now I wish I'd went ahead and done it.
I love the older series too (well, up untill Adric anyway) there is just somethign about it that no other show had. But yeah, the New Who is simply mind-blowing! Hasn't the US got the Tennant Eps yet? Well, a piece of advice- don't worry too much about ep 1 "New Earth". Once Ep 2 his it is brilliant!
Guess we'll see sometime next month when the SciFi Channel starts airing them.
Looking forward to the werewolf episode, myself.
