Mandrake in Phantom Annual #2

Mandrake's second appearance in the pages of a Moonstone Book will come in Phantom Annual #2. The script is finished and the art should begin on the massive 44 pager later this week. If all goes well, the book should hit stores this summer. Grin03

Any hints about the story (yes, I know I ask a lot about that, but this is a very special comic book event, after all)? I really wonder what problem could be so big it demands both of Lee Falk's creations to solve it.

And who's the artist? The same as for the 6-page Mandrake preview?

All I can say right now is that it has small connection to the current Checkmate arc in The Phantom and stars Mandrake, Lothar and the GWW.

Yes. Samicler Gonçalves is handling the artwork.

That is very cool. I look forward to see how the three characters will meet up again.

Just read the Phantom Annual # 2.
A bit like Miller's Batman: The Dark Knight Returns.
I like the look of Mandrake, I like the layout of the pages, I like the art.
After P Davis and F Fredericks - a new millenium - a new Mandrake.
Not bad at all !
Hoping; more to come.......

Pretty decent read. The new outfit is starting to grow on me and I liked the Mandrake/Lothar relationship.
Wish that when Mandrake was in the onstage tux it was drawn to look more his traditional outfit.

Was overwelmed with the bad guy. Never been a big fan of shadowy evil corporations.

What's up with it being common knowledge about the fact that Mandrake does actual magic? Several places people talk about it and nobody seems surprised when it happens? That felt off to me.

Aside from a few gripes, it's been fun having Mandrake back in action and looking forward to more stories.
